143443 - My younger brother, James J. Kingsley, has been in pretrial detention in Oyem, Gabon for about 24months now. His health has deteriorated, and I am therefore requesting the active intervention of the consulate and the Liberian Community in Gabon to pursue his case and possible release from detention,
According to him, he and some friends were friends were at a local entertainment center where a fight happened between two parties, and someone was killed in the fight. He and his friends had no involvement in the fight.
After five days, securities went into the community and arrested those who were at the entertainment when the fight occurred and detained them, pending investigation and trial. To date, there has been no investigation or trial.
My family is deeply concerned. Please intervene and give us regular update on his case and condition in prison.
Also, we would appreciate it were to advise us on what we can as his family to secure his release from detention. You may want to involve the International Committee of the Red Cross. They handle such cases.
